thats me

this is my work:

i sat in the dark sushi bar. tapping my fingers on the smooth wooden counter. he was late. he was always late. with a good excuse on the tip of his tounge and an apology in hand. i always for gave him. i needed somthing to feed my annoyance so i orderd a volcanoe roll and a cup of sake. i promised my self that if he wasn't there by the time i was done with the spicy sushi roll id leave.

i sat pushing the last piece of sushi around my plate. i was holding out that tiny hope that he'd some how make it to the resturant. hed rush in wind blown and pink cheked, breathily explaning why he was late. we would make up over miso soup. that is the way it worked on the silver screen of my mind. but in real life he didn't show before i finished dinner.

the egg yolk yellow cab dropped me off in front of my building in greenwhich village. i lived on the corner of 11th street and avenue B, in a small studio flat. i strolled cassually past the bums and street preformers. yanking open the heavy metal door. i stopped in the hall. galncing between the stairs and the elavator. walk and loose calories or ride and save my smoke addled lungs. lazziness won. i stepped into the industrial elevator and punched the up button. crossing my fingers that it made it all the way to the top floor. i let my breath escape when it shudderd to the top.

as i opend the door to the freezing apartment the light on the answering machine was blinking monotonously. i pressed the button. "hey lexi. its gerard." i sighed as gerards guilty voice filled the apartment. "um i really sorry i couldn't make it tonight. the band needed me in brooklyn." aha! i knew it. i knew it was the band. the king excuse. "we got a spur of the moment gig and i had to go staright away. i didn't have time to call you. but don't worry ill make it up to you." i didn't doubt he would. "call you tomorrow. bye."

this was a reapeating cycle. he screws up, im mad for about thirty seconds, he makes it up to me with somthing romantic. its a lather rinse repeat type job. some how neither of us can leave. he dosn't have to time and i dont have the heart. gerard was the one area where i was a softie. any other time and i was a cold hard bitch. somthing about the boy just melted my anger coated heart. he never ceased to amaze me in that way.

I haven't been here in ages, sorry about that! But I haven't done too much... just haven't been hit by the urge to write without ceasing, and haven't been taking too many photos recently (except of my cat).

Here's a piece from awhile ago:
Modern Girl.Collapse )

And a photo of my cat:
( Contentment. )
It's actually a link to the photo in my dA account, hope that's okay.
The photo is a little too orange to be good because of the yellow lighting, with the yellow bedsheet, plus the fact that the cat is ginger. But I didn't have any other light to choose from. I think I did add a photo filter in Photoshop CS2 to get it less overwhelming red/orange.

Oh, also because I didn't seem to mention it the last time I posted, I'd just like to say that my application to this community was submitted as nutsie_peanut, then I changed accounts.

Hello again, all.

'Tis your moderator.  Well, now that school's over and done with (for a few months, at least) I now have regained my life and my very delicate privledges of free time to maintain this community once again.

I'd like to welcome our newest member, aimee_br.

And, to our exsisting members: I hope you all haven't forgot about this place quite yet.  I'll definately take the initiative and share some of my photos from a cruise I went on in a future update -- they're pretty neat.  Continue to check back in on new entries and such.

What types of creative activites do you do? (Writing, Art, Photo.):
Writing short & long stories (occasionally fanfiction, sue me), making up the odd rhyme when I feel up to it, taking photos

Name some creative writers or artists who you enjoy:

Edward Hopper, Chris Wray-Mccann, Oscar Wilde

Do you have any recent muses or inspirations?:

I get a lot of my ideas and insprations in odd situations, such as in the car on my way to uni while singing along to the song on the radio; or I’ll just have a plot lined out instantly, if I get across a proverb that’s quite witty. However, I think music has always been my biggest muse.

Why do you want to join ?: i_n_s_p_i_r_e

I’d like to get feedback for my work(s), especially the writing. And of course, I enjoy other people’s creative works.

Any guilty obsessions?:

Too many really, most recent would be Queer As Folk US, music (especially Snow Patrol, any of their latest songs makes me want to write endlessly) and chocolate, always.

Completely aside from the arts, what is a random fact about you that you believe everyone should know?:

I’m not a very good advice giver, yet I am a very good listener. If people need a shoulder to cry on, I’ll be there, comforting them.

The cyber persona Aimee and the RL person tend to be completely different from each other.

Please post either a picture of yourself, or a picture that resembles you in any way, shape or form. (This is where you can get creative) Also please include a sample of your creative work so we can get to know you a little better.

I need a muse [Jun. 13th, 2006|09:58 pm]

sparkly_faerie
[Mood |frustratedfrustrated]

I really need some inspiration.
I want to create some art; drawings or paintings (I have acrylics, watercolours, drawing pens in black, charcoal pencils and good ol' 2B) any ideas?
I really have no inspiration, no direction what so ever. Maybe paint from a photograph I've taken or from an image of a celebrity? I just need someone with a bit of outside perspective to give me their view(s).
Here's my DA if you want to see some of my photos.
Or if anyone would like to request something then that'd be great (though, admittedly I'm not so good with deadlines).
I've been walking in the coutryside, been out gazing over beautiful scenery but nothing is providing that spark to trigger the idea, it's madness because I've only been back a little while from a trip to Paris and if anything should provide me with inspiration then Paris should have. What else can I do?
*Sigh* I hate wanting to do something so badly but not being able to.
Do other people here get that, where they want to create something beautiful and interesting and thoughful but when they come to it, they can't quite think of the idea that's good enough to fulfill the urge and that can be realised?
Thanks for any help :)

Once upon a yellow piece of paper with green lines
he wrote a poem
and he called it "chops"
because that was the name of his dog
and thats what it was all about
and his teacher gave him an A
and a gold star
and his mother hung it on the kitchen door
and read it to his aunts

That was the year father tracy
took all the kids to the zoo
and he let them sing on the bus
and his little sister was born
with tiny toenails and no hair
and his mother and father kissed a lot
and the girl around the corner sent him
a valentine with a row of X's
and he had to ask his father what the X's meant
and his father always tucked him in bed at night
and was always there to do it

Once on a piece of white paper with blue lines
he wrote a poem
and he called it"autumn"
becuase that's what it was all about
and his teacher gave him an A
and asked him to write more clearly
and his mother never hung it on the kitchen door
because of its new paint
and the kids told him
that father tracy smoked cigars
and left butts on the pews
and sometimes they would burn holes
that was the year his sister got glasses
and thick lenses and black frames
and the girl around the corner laughed
when he asked her to go see Santa Claus
and the kids told him why
his mother and father kissed a lot
and his father never tucked him in bed at night
and his father got mad
when he cried for him to do it.

Once on a paper torn from his notebook
he wrote a poem
and he called it "Innocence: A Question"
becausethat was the question about his girl
and thats what it was all about
and the professor gave him an A
and a strange steady look
and his mother never hung it on the kitchen door
because he never showed her
thatwas the year father tracy died
and he forgot how the end
of the Apostles Creed went
and he caught his sister
making out on the back porch
and his mother and father never kissed
or even talked
and the girl around the corner
wore too much makeup
that made him cough when he kissed her
but he kissed her anyway
because that was the thing to do
and at three A.M. he tucked himself into bed
his father snoring soundly.

Thats why onthe back of a brown paper bag
he tried another poem
And he called it "Absolutely Nothing"
because thats what it was really all about
and he gave himself an A
and a slash on each damned wrist
and he hung it on the bathroom door
becuase this time he didnt think
he could reach the kitchen.

Here's another sample of work I decided to post under our Photographer Profiles.  I credit killertuxedo, and I found this and his other works while whoring around LiveJournal.  Check out his photos, they are very good.

I myself had some pictures to post from my easter egg colouring experiences this year, but had technical difficulties with the camera.  Not good.

Otherwise, Happy Easter everyone. =)

Just for fun, I thought I'd post one of my older works.  It's a re-write of the flashback scene from the Underworld novelization, written by Greg Cox.  Personally, I hated the novelization, and thought that it didn't capture any of the character's emotions.  Thumbs down.
If you're not a fan of fanfiction, I apologize.  If you have no idea what the movie Underworld is, I apologize again.  =P

Another application [Apr. 2nd, 2006|02:33 pm]
[Creative Writing, Photography and Artwork]

sparkly_faerie
[Mood |cheerfulcheerful]

Hi, I would have posted my application sooner but I only got my pc back yesterday as the USB had to be fixed.

Name/Age: Lucy, 22 (I feel old compared to everyone else!)

What types of creative activites do you do? (Writing, Art, Photo.): A bit of all three actually, though I'm better at art and photography, best at drawing, particularly people. I like to draw celebs/characters/band members for friends. I photograph generally nature, wildlife and scenery.

Name some creative writers or artists who you enjoy: Andrew Coates, Degas is possibly my absolute favourite artist of all time, I love the way he handles light and recreates fabric as in his ballet studies. I'm a big fan of the Pre-Raphaelite movement though such as Bougereau. Alan Lee's work is amazing, I aspire to be something like him, Tolkien and Terry Brooks are two of my favourite authors. Roald Dahl and Jostein Gaarder are wonderfully creative.

Do you have any recent muses or inspirations?: Much of the time nature is my inspiration (for photography and sometimes art) otherwise books and my friends and celebrities are my muses.

Why do you want to join i_n_s_p_i_r_e?: I'd like to meet other creative people and get feedback on my own work. I'd also like to find other creative people who might want illustrations to accompany and further their written work. I just want inspiration and projects for my art.

Any guilty obsessions?: Lord of the Rings fanfic, fantasy books, fantasy films, film magazines.

Completely aside from the arts, what is a random fact about you that you believe everyone should know?: Like everyone else here I procrastinate ... a lot, it seems to be that if you're creative, you procrastinate. I'm random, I daydream and if you feel emo I will make it my mission to find out what's wrong and and cheer you up and give you advice. I'm what's called a natural healer.

Here is a creative interpretation of a picture that resembles me ...
I admire her character in the books greatly and I do identify with her to an extent, I've also been told that I look quite like her when my hair is down :)

Some photographs of mine:

What types of creative activites do you do? (Writing, Art, Photo.): i do mostly photography, some writing here and there, but mostly photography.

Name some creative writers or artists who you enjoy: for writers, I enjoy Tolkien highly, probably as any other person in the world, and for artists, I enjoy Pieter Aertsen, Charles Le Brun and John William Waterhouse.

Do you have any recent muses or inspirations?: the ocean: always has been, always will be.

Why do you want to join </a></font></a>i_n_s_p_i_r_e?: to share my works with others and hopefully meet some new people in the process.

Any guilty obsessions?: haha probably Jello.  I can't get enough of the stuff.

Completely aside from the arts, what is a random fact about you that you believe everyone should know?: hmm, probably that I hate rap music with a burning passion, and that my favorite color is orange.

Please post either a picture of yourself, or a picture that resembles you in any way, shape or form. (This is where you can get creative) Also please include a sample of your creative work so we can get to know you a little better.

This might be a little something that resembles me, I suppose.

Also, if there is enough interest, we will hold a Monthly Prose & Poetry Contest on April 16th.  If anyone would like to enter in this contest or judge works, leave a comment.  Again, if I have enough interest, it'll be a go.
